TERHORMON HISTORY

Terhormon was born in 1971, as a familiar company, thanks to the several years experience of Dr. Pietro Cavallazzi in the production of similar Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API).
The Company started manufacturing Liver Extract, Adrenal Cortex Extract (injectable), Pepsin, Heparin (injectable) and Pancreatin.

In 1980, due to the rise in market demand, Terhormon decided to increase the production of Pancreatin beginning to sell it in the USA, Japan, Turkey, and India.

In 1990 Terhormon chose to dedicate all its plant solely to the production of Pancreatin to avoid the possibility of cross contamination with other products.

In 2005, after the inspection of AIFA (Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco), Terhormon’s production of Pancreatin has been recognized as GMP, obtaining its first GMP permit and increasing its visibility in pharmaceutical field.

PANCREATIN EXPERT

Pancreatin is a mixture of several digestive enzymes produced by the exocrine cells of the pancreas. It is composed of amylase, lipase and protease. This mixture is used to treat conditions in which pancreatic secretions are deficient, such as surgical pancreatectomy, pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis. It has been claimed to help with food allergies, celiac disease, autoimmune disease, cancer and weight loss.
The pancreatic enzymes can be classified in four groups: peptide hydrolases/proteases, lipolytic enzymes, Glycosidases and Nucleases.
Pancreatin contains many of these enzymes.
The quality of any Pancreatin preparation is defined by three enzyme activities: Protease, Amylase and Lipase.
The Pharmacopoeias specify minimum activity levels (in units per mg) for each of these three enzymes in Pancreatin. In both absolute and relative terms, the activities of these enzymes vary with, and depend upon, the origin of the pancreas and the treatment of the glands.
